Annual Parent Meeting and Potluck: The Annual Parent Meeting/swimmer recognition/potluck will be held on Sunday March 24, at the Recreation Center in downtown Iowa City.  Beginning at 5:00 PM, this meeting is always fun and a great opportunity to get to know some of the other families in the Club.  As a potluck each family is asked to bring a dish to share.  Frost families are asked to bring a salad, Cubes are to bring main dish items, Morays can bring desserts, and Eels are asked to contribute vegetables and potato dishes.  The Club will provide coffee and pop.  Everyone should also bring along their own plates and dinnerware.  There will be a limited inventory of ICE merchandise for sale as well.

Long course season begins April 1st: The long course season is nearly here and the swimmers will be back on training schedules beginning April 1st.  Regular practice resumes at Mercer on the 1st and at Coralville on the 29th.  Coralville practice will be suspended until April 29th due to the Stroke Clinic. You do have to be registered to swim with the Club and registration is set for Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday April 1,2, & 3 at Mercer. Practice times in April will be  Frost: 6-6:45 PM; Cubes: 7-8 PM; Morays: 6-8 PM; Eels 6-8:30 PM.

Stroke Clinic: The Stroke Clinic is set to begin April 8th at both Mercer and Coralville.  If you know of anyone who might be interested please have them call the ICE office at 351-3336 or ask them to visit our website at www.iceels.org. There is more information there along with a printable copy of the Clinic application.

Swimposium: On Saturday April 13th ISI will be holding a Swimposium at Coe College in Cedar Rapids.  There will be clinics on swimming, officiating, and various aspects of club swimming.  Swimmers and interested club families are encouraged to attend.  Saturday evening there will be an Awards dinner open at all members of our LSC.  More details will follow as they become available.

Lane lines: In conjunction with the City of Iowa City’s Recreation Department and the Iowa City Community School District, the ICE Board has approved funds to help purchase new lane lines for Mercer pool.  The old lines were original to the pool and were simply wearing out.  The new lines will have the added benefit of better wave reduction technology which should make Mercer an even faster pool.

Spring Meltdown:  The ICE Spring Meltdown is scheduled for May 4th and 5th.  This is primarily a Senior A-BB Meet but we will need help from all Club members in order to make this a successful event.  This meet attracts swimmers from out of state and is viewed as a great warm-up for the long course season. We will need help in the usual areas; concessions, timing, technical, etc. so please keep this date in mind.

Flower basket sale fundraiser:  ICE will again conduct its popular flower basket sale fundraiser this Spring in cooperation with the Coral Fruit Market.  Money raised will count towards the summer season fundraising requirement.  We plan to pass out the ordering and price information during registration for the summer season.

Communications note: The website is up and running and undergoing changes on an ongoing basis.  I have greatly appreciated the feedback I have received and will continue to try to tailor the site so it meets the needs of the greatest number of club members.  I’m in the process of overhauling the homepage and website navigation system.  As always, I’m open to posting any information Club members would like to see listed- pictures, articles, links to other sites, etc.  Simply let me know and I’ll see what kind of solution I can find.  I can be reached easiest via e-mail at keleyn@inav.net or from the website at coordinator@iceels.org.
