The Iowa City Eels Swim Club is a non-profit organization that was inspired by Irving Webber in the early 1900s to provide the people of Iowa City a venue for swimming. Presently, the Club has grown to a membership of over 120 swimmers, ranging from the beginning Frost swimmers to the experienced Eels swimmers. The Club is committed to instilling the spirit of success in its athletes through teaching the value of dedication, achievement of personal goals, and teamwork. It strives to develop integrity, self-confidence, physical fitness, sportsmanship and a winning attitude in its athletes, and in so doing, provide skills that will benefit them for life.
Maintaining swim equipment involves heavy maintenance due to the constant exposure to chlorine water. We are currently raising funds for the following:

Over 2500 swimmers and family members come from Iowa and surrounding states to compete in our meets. Hosting meets is a primary source of revenue for our team.

Over 2500 swimmers and family members come from Iowa, South Dakota, Minnesota, Wisconsin and Illinois to compete in our meets. At least half of these swimmers and families will stay in Iowa City for the duration of the meet. Visiting clubs need hotel accommodations, restaurants, recreation and sporting goods. Our website accumulates over 10,000 hits a month, and our meet invitations are widely read and distributed throughout the swimming community. Swimming families often based their accommodation and meal choices on information provided for them in meet invitations and program ads.

Thank you for your consideration.
It takes a villiage to put on a swim meet. Coaches, athletes, officials and hundreds of workers are all needed to make a good swim meet. At every meet, we provide hospitality to our officials and coaches and this means that we need lots of donations of food and drink for every day that we run a swim meet.
Please consider donating fresh or prepared food for the hardworking officials and coaches that work at our meets. Approximately 35 meals are needed for each session that we have a meet.
